Thousands March Through Melbourne After State Government Announces Construction Shutdown Following CFMEU Protests

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - SEPTEMBER 21: Construction workers march through the streets on September 21, 2021 in Melbourne, Australia. Protests started outside the headquarters of the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) in Melbourne on Monday over the introduction of mandatory vaccinations for construction workers. The Victorian government has announced a two-week shutdown of construction after violence broke out on Monday with riot police using rubber bullets to disperse the crowd. The protest comes after the state government announced that all construction workers would need to receive at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by September 23 to be able to continue working.
