Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and her partner Clarke Gayford have made their first official media appearance in Auckland since the birth of their healthy baby girl Neve Te Aroha Ardern Gayford at Auckland Hospital, New Zealand on June 21, 2018. Prime Minister Ardern is the second world leader to give birth in office, and the first elected leader to take maternity leave. Ardern will take six weeks of leave with Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters assuming the role of Acting Prime Minister.
