Jean Moorehead Holding Auto Mechanism

(Original Caption) Pretty "Maid of Aluminum," Jean Moorehead, demonstrates lightness of new die cast aluminum engine block by lifting it with one hand. The automobile block, the largest die-cast aluminum part ever made, weighs only 43 pounds, 130 pounds less than a conventional gray iron block. Produced by the Doehler-Jarvis Division of National & Chemical Corporation, the engine block was shown publicly for the first time at the press preview of the opening of the Kaiser Aluminum exhibit at Disneyland.
