UNITED KINGDOM - JULY 23: Oil painting by F Moore of the Great Western Railway (GWR) broad gauge locomotive 'Sebastopol', a locomotive of the 'Iron Duke' class designed by Sir Daniel Gooch (1816-1889) and built at the GWR's Swindon Works. Until 1864 many of the GWR's locomotives were designed by Gooch, who built a total of 340 engines for the railway at Swindon. A total of 29 locomotives of the Iron Duke class were built between 1847 and 1855. They were capable of speeds approaching 80 mph. (Photo by SSPL/Getty Images)
