Cape Town, SOUTH AFRICA: South African ring's and jewellery designer Johan Louw talks, 15 December 2006 in Cape Town, about his design for the two wedding rings for the first gay married couple of the country. As the first couple to get married under a new South African law, the couple were treated to wedding rings worth a combined 30,000 rand (about 4,300 dollars) by local jewellery company Uwe Koette. South Africa became 30 November 2006 the first country on the continent to put legislation authorising same sex marriages on the statute book.
