Chimera

The Chimera was, according to Greek mythology, a monstrous fire-breathing hybrid creature of Lycia in Asia Minor. The Chimera finally was defeated by Bellerophon, with the help of Pegasus. Bellerophon shot the Chimera from the air, safe from her heads and breath. Engraving depicting Jason and the Argonauts from 'Tableaux du temple des muses' (1655) by Michel de Marolles (1600 - 1681), known as the abbe de Marolles; a French churchman and translator.
