The first passenger flights could take off from a newly-reopened Doncaster Sheffield Airport by spring 2026 with the backing of the government. Doncaster Council are planning to invest £100millioin of public money into running the airport and say ongoing negotiations could be completed before the end of the year. Formerly known as Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield, it closed in November 2022 after the Peel Group owners said is was no longer financially viable after the Covid-19 pandemic.
