Members of the Mexican Navy guard a submarine seized to drug traffikers in Salina Cruz port, Oaxaca state on 18 July 2008. A 10-meter-long submarine has been seized by the Mexican navy as it plied the Pacific Ocean carrying cocaine, showing the growing sophistication of drug smugglers. "It's not a military submarine, it's 10 meters (33 feet) long and from what we know they're made in the Colombian jungle to carry drugs," said navy spokesman Captain Benjamin Mar after the vessel was intercepted 15 kilometers (10 miles) off the coast of Oaxaca state. According the Navy "257 packages were assessed, with a weight brought near of 22.5 kg each one, which gives a total weight of 5,815 kg approximately.
