Henry Warner Slocum
circa 1870: Henry Warner Slocum (1827-1895). American soldier and politician. Member, NY State legislature 1859, in the Civil War a colonel of the 28th NY Volunteers in the Union Army, fought at First Bull Run 1861, in Peninsula Campaign and Second Bull Run 1862, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg 1863, commanded left wing in Sherman's March to the Sea and in the Carolinas 1864-65.
