French Soldiers from the 'Licorne force'

French Soldiers from the 'Licorne force' hoist a rotorblade onto a freshly unloaded helcopter 25 October at Abidjan port, during a turnover operation. Some 8,000 UN soldiers are deployed in the Ivory Coast and are backed by between 3,000 and 3,500 French troops. Ivory Coast, a former French colony that was long a beacon of peace and prosperity in west Africa, was sliced in half in 2002 when rebels attempted a coup against Gbagbo.
