Digestive system, illustration - stock illustration

Illustration of the human digestive system. The digestive system is a group of organs working together to break down food and drink into nutrients that the body can absorb and use for energy, growth and cell repair. It starts at the mouth, where food is mechanically broken down and mixed with saliva, and continues through the oesophagus, stomach (pale pink), small intestine (pale green) and large intestine (blue), before waste products are excreted via the rectum and anus. The liver (brown), pancreas (yellow) and gallbladder (bright green) play supporting roles by producing and releasing digestive enzymes and bile to aid the breakdown and absorption of nutrients
