Protests Gather in Sacramento Following the Death of Duante Wright
Tonight, protesters gathered at Caesar Chavez Plaza on I St in downtown Sacramento to march, following the shooting death of Daunte Wright in Minnesota on Sunday.
A few people talked to the group in the park before moving into the streets.
The group walked to the Capitol area first, and the protest stayed mostly peaceful.
They then moved to the DOCO area, near the Golden One Center, where many people knocked down barriers and threw chairs. A few attempts were made to break windows but were unsuccessful.
The group continued to walk across multiple blocks, knocking over and throwing Jump Bikes into the road, throwing construction cones, and often blocking surveillance cameras with umbrellas.
Sacramento Police declared the group and unlawful assembly and threatened to arrest those who did not disperse.
The group made it back to the park and slowly dispersed from there. No one was arrested or injured during the demonstration.
