Tesco accounting scandal: Chairman Sir Richard Broadbent to resign; London: Dave Lewis (Chief Executive, Tesco) set-up shots with reporter / interview SOT - This is about timing, it's not about validity / the money was there, it was absolutely in the wrong period and we need to be clear that's not what we want to do, that's where there is a need to restate / nobody gained financially from that / none of that had any impact or interface with our customers / what I know about this is the size of the problem / I called for an independent inquiry, we wrote terms of reference for Deloitte which were about what has happened here, the size of the problem so that we understand the numbers, and then a second part about how and why this happened / the FCA said in terms of the causality, we, the regulator, will do the investigation and we don't want you to do that / what I see is a huge amount of opportunity, what I've done again, very openly and transparently, is share with you how it is I see the business, this is a business that has maasive opportunity in terms of how the brand engages and serves customers / will I change some of the things around the business? yes I will, would people expect me to do that? yes they would, but this is a great business, this is full of people that really care about customers, everything else in the business is second to that and what I have an opportunity to do is put the customer right back at the centre of everything we do and we get back to what it is that made Tesco great, which is great surprises for customers in the UK
