ITN Reports: Congo: Margaret Hayes' story; Margaret Hayes press conference continued SOT- next say a Simba, a friend of ours, told us the massacre had taken place and (I was taken) from where I was and hide me alone / I was a month alone with pastor hidden in forest- at end of month rebels made war on village / they killed my friends, broke village to ground- they decided that unless I came out of forest they would kill whole tribe / I decided it better that I should die so I came out and told them to kill me but save my friends / - they said they didn't want to kill me but wanted me to work- on last Saturday in May mob arrived at convent and we were all arrested / were taken to priest home and found 31 of them sitting on ground / we sat behind them / we were deprived of anything we had in our pockets and marched a kilometre to nearest post, lined up and searched - father was beaten for wearing khaki pants- all personal possessions were taken / were herded into tiny room - 31 fathers and 19 mothers and children / no food and water- later that night officers came and demanded the priests strip for a physical inspection / we looked away but three sisters were forced to watch / they threw their clothes away and were left naked / we had same treatment then they told us to get dressed
