ICE Arrests Undocumented Immigrants In New York City

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), officers prepare to arrest undocumented immigrants on April 11, 2018 in the Bushwick neighborhood of the Brooklyn Borough of New York City. The large scale operation, launched throughout the five boroughs of NYC was one of the biggest such ICE ops in NYC in recent years. ICE brought in officers from Field Offices throughout the northeast for the six-day op, which captured hundreds of immigrants with invalid legal status. ICE detentions, which usually lead to deportation proceedings, are frequently controversial in New York, considered a 'sanctuary city' for undocumented immigrants.
