European Elections: Ed Miliband on campaign trail

ENGLAND: London: INT Ed Miliband MP (Labour Party Leader) interview SOT - Haven't called Nigel Farage himself a racist because I don't know Nigel Farage, don't know what his deep beliefs were - think they were very offensive comments, completely wrong, don't think you should be making anything like those comments about any nationality - think they were offensive and wrong and Nigel Farage has said they were wrong, he's right to say that - he shouldn't be making comments like that because they are offensive - (on introducing new strike laws) I'll look at any proposals in government that come up, personally I don't think there is that case for change - the disruption we've seen from some of the tube strikes has been terrible / I think the best way forward on industrial relations is both sides getting round the table, rather than changing laws it is about making sure you have proper engagement from both sides - the Mayor should be getting around the table with the unions, negotiating and getting to a good solution - (on being scared of taking on the RMT) Not at all - the truth about this is that I take the right position for the country and I take the right position for the capital city - (on his embarrassing slip-ups and whether he is exhausted) this is what happens on campaigns, you have good days and not so good days but whats important to me is to go an talk to people about the difference we are going to make - I think this is much less about whether party leaders can remember a particular person and much more about the difference we can make to the country and the difference we can make in people's lives - (have you spoken to Jim Grant) I did speak to him yesterday (laughs), said I was sorry that it had momentarily slipped my mind the role that he played but look I think these elections are not a memory test of party leaders, I think they are a test of party policies and the difference we can make to the country ITN LIB CUTAWAY Train arrivi...
