Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Census Participation and Voter Registration Kick Off

QUEENS, NY – AUGUST 15, 2020: Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (aka AOC) and her team launch campaign to increase Census Participation and Voter Registration in her district. The kickoff campaign took place at the Woodside Houses in the borough of Queens, NYC (A public housing complex built and operated by the NYC Housing Authority - NYCHA). AOC greeted residents and spoke to reporters. She spoke to projections that NY could lose two Congressional seats because of an undercount. “When we do not know that families exist, which is what happens when we get an undercount of the Census, we can’t fund schools, we can’t fund infrastructure, we don’t know where to put hospitals, and this results in the situation that we have in Corona, which is one of the most overcrowded school districts in the city,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
