Tiger Shark (Galeocerdo cuvier) with Scuba Diver - stock photo
Scuba diver encounters tiger sharks while diving in the Bahamas. Tiger sharks get their name from the dark stripes on their body that resemble the stripes on a tiger. Tiger sharks can grow to lengths in excess of 16 feet and over 2000 pounds. Tiger sharks are second only to the great white in size and recorded fatal attacks on humans. Tiger sharks are usually found in tropical waters.
