The "Mission of the United Nations Organisation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo" (MONUC), is one of the biggest United Nations peacekeeping forces. The mission was established to monitor the peace process of the Second Congo War, though much of its focus subsequently turned to other conflicts in DRC, where MONUC is allowed to use any military violence. With 20,000 soldiers and costs of around $2,35 Mio, it is the most expensive UN missions.
