She was constructed by the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France and launched in August 1999, then named MS R Three. She has been operated by her present owners since 2002. The ship is 30,277 gross tons and is just over 593 feet long. The ship has 9 decks and can carry 826 passengers and has a crew of some 370.
