Grand National - Becher's Brook

Becher's Brook action during the Grand National at Aintree on 8th April 1989. Six horses fell or were brought down at this fence and two of them, Brown Trix And Seeandem, were killed. Following an outcry, Aintree took significant measures to reduce the severity of the fence the following year. Identified, left to right: Numerate ridden by Tarnya Davis (33), Rausal ridden by Dai Tegg (29), Bonanza Boy ridden by Peter Scudamore (2) and Queensway Boy ridden by Alan Webb (19). The only horse among these to finish the race was Bonanza Boy who placed eighth. (Photo by Leo Mason/Popperfoto/Getty Images)
