Reflecting a motif common among island nations in the region, this flag symbolizes the islands' relationship with the surrounding ocean. The ascending diagonal band represents the equator, while the star signifies the archipelago's location in the Northern Hemisphere. The white and orange segments of the band represent the Ratak Chain (sunrise) and the Ralik Chain (sunset) respectively, embodying notions of peace and bravery. With 24 points, the star symbolizes the number of electoral districts, while the four elongated points represent the key cultural hubs of Majuro, Jaluit, Wotje, and Ebeye. Remarkably, this flag holds the distinction of having the highest number of points on a star among all national flags, totaling 24.
