Inside The Wallace Collection After World War II
With the aid of two gallery assistants, senior technician Mr W Baker stands on a ladder to hang a portrait painting of King Louis XV by Louis-Michel Vanloo back into its frame in a gallery at the Wallace Collection museum housed in Hertford House in Manchester Square, London on 13th December 1945. The painting has been kept in safe storage during World War II and only now is being returned to its original position in the gallery. (Photo by Erich Auerbach/Popperfoto via Getty Images)
