On November 05, 2015 the wall of the Fundaçao dam broke causing what is considered the biggest and most catastrophic environmental disaster in the history of Brazil. More than 50 million tons of mood with mine tailings flood and contaminated the villages of Bento Rodrigues and Paracatu de Baixo, polluting rivers and then reaching the Atlantic Ocean. 19 people died on the disaster.
