MAY 8 1969, MAY 9 1969 'Wake' Stagged for 'Old Spirit' at Loretto Students at Loretto Heights College held an all-night "wake" beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday for the "old spirit" of the college. It ended with an all-campus Mass at 7 a.m. Friday. The idea was to "resurrect a new spirit on the campus," said John Ackelson, an organizer. Students were encouraged to write their gripes on paper and place them in this mock coffin which was symbolically buried Friday. The "new spirit" being sought was for positive, constructive changes for the college. Student leaders said about 200 participated in event at the Denver school.
