A tranqualized polar bear is in a net after it spent two weeks in the "Polar Bear Jail", got a lip tattoo, a tracking ear tag, a tooth pulled for research, and a through measuring for size, and is waiting to be airlifted by helicopter about 40 miles (65 kms) out of town, 16 November 2007, from Churchill, Mantioba, Canada. Polar bears return to Churchill, the polar bear capital of the world, to hunt for seals on the icepack every year at this time and remain on the icepack feeding on seals until the spring thaw.
