This photograph taken on July 25, 2018 shows 73 year-old Kenyan avocado farmer Simon Kimani posing with some of his crop in Kandara, central Kenya. - Before venturing into avocado farming, the retired civil servant planted coffee bushes on his two hectare farm but opted out owing to dwindling coffee fortunes. Simon has 210 avocado trees mainly from the "Hass" variety- other avocado varieties include "Feurte" and "Pueblas"- Avocado is a major export crop constituting about 15,000 tonnes (17%) of the total horticultural exports from Kenya with most fruit exported to the European Union.
