The crew of the Royal Navy Group 1 T-class submarine HMS Thunderbolt (formerly HMS Thetis) pose for a photograph beside the QF 4-inch naval deck gun after returning to their base at Holy Loch in Scotland circa January 1941 from patrol in the Bay of Biscay where she encountered and sank the Italian Regia Marina Liuzzi class submarine Capitano Tarantini on 15th December 1940 south-west of the Gironde Estuary near Bordeaux, France.
