Tea Estates Thrive In Northern Thailand

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND - JANUARY 15: Thai tea packagers seal up bags of loose leaf oolong tea at the Araksa Tea Garden on January 15, 2022 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The Araksa Tea Garden, a 111 acre property originally founded in 1939, is one of the oldest tea plantations in Thailand. After coming under new management in 2014, the Araksa Tea Garden has become the first tea plantation in Thailand to become USDA and EU certified organic for both their farm and factory. Located in Chiang Mai's Mae Taetang District, the 60,000 tree plantation employs between 30-45 local community members to pluck, process, and package tea leaves and produces 3 tonnes of organic tea each year.
