STOKES STATE FOREST, UNITED STATES: A team from the Connecticut Audubon Society looks for birds during the World Series of Birding, 12 May 2007, in Stokes State Forest, New Jersey. The annual event draws birders from around the country in a competition to count the most number of species in a 24-hour period in the state of New Jersey. The defending champions are The Sapsuckers, from the Cornell University Lab of Ornithology, who counted 229 species last year.
