ENGLAND - MAY 29: Taken for the Tanner?s Federation at Hodgson?s Tannery in Flemingate near Beverley Minster. The tannery was established in 1812 and employed 400 at its peak in the 19th Century. Working conditions and practices appear to have changed relatively little since then. The tannery was strategically placed to import hides and tanning materials with a fleet of 16 boats using the river Hull, it closed in the 1970s.
