[UNVERIFIED CONTENT] Shiite Muslim men, covered in mud, in trance, chanting and self-flagellating, on the streets of the city of Bijar, Kurdistan Province, Iran, during the Day of Ashura. Ashura Day is an annual festival amongst the Shi'ite Muslim community that mourns the death of Imam Husayn. Some adherents take part in self-flagellation. Traditionally, in Bijar men cover themselves in fresh mud in the morning.
