Mecca, SAUDI ARABIA: Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz waves to delegates after the signing of an inter-Palestinian peace deal in Mecca 08 February 2007. Rival Palestinian factions signed today a comprehensive deal to form a national unity government after marathon talks in the Saudi holy city aimed at ending lethal infighting and a crippling international boycott. The document, heralded as the start of a "new era," was signed by Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas, who heads the Fatah party, and the exiled leader of the ruling Islamist Hamas movement Khaled Meshaal.
