Cheering Soldiers on Ship Deck in New York
(Original Caption) 6/17/1945-New York, NY-: Wildly cheering GI's line the deck of a huge grey transport as it noses into the dock in New York Bay today. The men are members of the 86th Division of the Third Army, known as the Black Hawks. They are the first combat division to return as a complete unit and were given the noisiest and most colorful welcome by the New York port of embarkation.
