New Zealand COVID-19 Restrictions Reintroduced Following New Coronavirus Cases
WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND - AUGUST 12: National Party Leader Judith Collins speaks to media during a press conference at Parliament on August 12, 2020 in Wellington, New Zealand. COVID-19 restrictions have been reintroduced across New Zealand after four new COVID-19 cases were diagnosed in Auckland. Auckland will be placed in full lockdown for three days from midday on Wednesday, with all residents to work from home unless they are essential workers and all schools and childcare centres to close. The rest of New Zealand will be subject to Level 2 restrictions. The new cases are all in the same family, with health authorities working to trace back the source of the infection. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has pushed back the dissolution of Parliament until Monday 17 August to allow politicians time to deal with the coronavirus crisis. The dissolution of Parliament, which had been scheduled for Wednesday, kicks off the process that eventually leads to an election. The 2020 New Zealand General Election is scheduled to be held on 19 September. (Photo by Hagen Hopkins/Getty Images)
