(Original Caption) 8/7/1968-Miami Beach, FL- Rev. Ralph Abernathy (second to l in center) and Rev. Hosea Williams (center right) observe fourth session proceedings of the Republican National Convention from seats in the spectators' section 8/7. Shortly after this picture was made, Abernathy addressed the people of Miami on television in an effort to quell the disturbances that broke out 8/7 in the early evening just across the bay in Miami. Those disturbances brought rock-throwing, looting and burning to the city.
