Messages left on the High Level Bridge by participants of the eighth annual Bridge Of Life Suicide Awareness and Prevention candlelight vigil and walk, hosted by YEG Mental Health, a passionate group committed to increasing awareness of mental health issues in the greater Edmonton area, on September 10, 2023, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Suicide affects people of all ages and backgrounds in Canada, with approximately 4,500 deaths annually, equivalent to 12 per day. For each person lost to suicide, many experience thoughts or attempts.
