MATERA, ITALY - 2016/01/07: Matera, called "The Stone City", is one of the oldiest cities in the world. It is located in Basilicata, a region in southerrn Italy. Already a World Heritage Site, Matera was proclaimed Eupean Capital of Culture for 2019 on 18 October 2014 (together with Plovdiv, Bulgaria).
