Major Roy Bates (far left) recaptures Sealand, a wartime man made Maunsell Sea Fort (British naval defence platform), Wednesday 16th August 1978. The tower, situated seven miles off the coast of Harwich, Essex, was invaded by 2 Germans and a Dutchman by helicopter last week, when Major Bates, who has owned the tower for 11 years was away.
