Heavy Rainfall Causes Flooding As Typhoon Doksuri Sweeps Northern China
ZHUOZHOU, CHINA - AUGUST 03: A local resident wades in chest deep floodwaters towards a rescue boat to be helped to safety in an area inundated with floodwaters on August 3, 2023 near Zhuozhou, Hebei Province south of Beijing, China. Disaster response teams have been working to control floodwaters and help stranded residents after the strongest storm in years battered northern China. The extreme rainfall from Typhoon Doksuri was the heaviest to hit Beijing in 140 years, inundating the capital and triggering flash floods and landslides. In nearby Hebei province, officials said floodwaters could take a month to recede. More than 100,000 people were evacuated from the hard-hit city of Zhuozhou, where rescuers used rafts to reach people trapped in villages cut off by deep water. (Photo by Kevin Frayer/Getty Images)
