Eurovision Song Contest Venue Is Now A Coronavirus Field Hospital

ROTTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - MARCH 30: Ladies wearing masks are seen outside Ahoy where workers assigned by Safety Region Rotterdam-Rijnmond (VRR) are building facilities for patients and their relatives who have tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19) on March 30, 2020 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Originally the Event hall Ahoy would have hosted the Eurovision Song Festival but is now housing host hospital facilities for an initial total of 400 Coronavirus patients with potential to scale up for 700 if needed. Each unit is built for four people and has its own toilet and shower. Safety Region Rotterdam-Rijnmond (VRR) is a government organization that performs tasks on behalf of the fifteen municipalities in the region in the areas of disaster relief, crisis management, risk management, fire service, ambulance care and medical assistance. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has spread to many countries across the world, claiming over 30,000 lives and infecting hundreds of thousands more. (Photo by Pierre Crom/Getty Images)
