Kester Avenue Elementary School in Sherman Oaks is one of the last schools without air conditioning.
Kester Avenue Elementary School in Sherman Oaks is one of the last schools without air conditioning. One of the reasons is that modernist architect Richard Neutra designed the school so previous plans to install air conditioning were scratched because they would destroy the integrity of the school. This 1st grade class of Marie Bernier (cq) gets spray breakes with cool water and a fan through out the day. (Photo by Joel P. Lugavere/Los Angeles Times via Getty Images)
