Indian flood-affected villagers mourn for Soukhi Paswan, (70) (C-front) who died at a temporary shelter set up along the national highway beside their flooded villages at Muzaffarpur, some 100 kms north of Patna, 06 August 2007. Paswan, allegedly received no medical treatment for ten days because of the floods. Among the millions of people forced from their homes by floods across South Asia many were desperate for food and drinking water, with India's Bihar state the worst hit. Flooding has affected more than 6,000 villages in half of Bihar's 38 districts with at least two million people living outdoors.
