SYRIA-CHRISTIANS-PILGRIMAGE
A group of Christian pilgrims from the United States, Britain, Zimbabwe, Philippines and southern Sudan cross the Syrian desert near the Beduin spot of Hallabat, some 300 kms northeast of Damascus, 26 November 2000. The 12 pious are tracing the track of the three Magi on a 99-day trip that is expected to be completed in Bethlehem on Christmas day on 25 December. The trip, sponsored by the Middle East Council of Churches, began in the area of Zayzafun on the Iranian-Iraqi border, covering 1,600 kms up to the final point in the West Bank.
