Nazi group Nordic Resistance Front rallies in Gothenburg

Gothenburg mounted a massive police operation to secure the city as members of the Nordic Resistance Front tried to march through the city center and antifascist groups mounted a massive counter protest on September 30, 2017. The Swedish nazi group Nordic Resistance Front planned to march through central Gothenburg on the day of the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur. The group was expecting 1000 participants, but only about 200-300 came. The march never materialized after Gothenburg Police froze the nazi group's movement after they tried to break their cordon and scuffled with police. Ca 20000 counter protesters circled around the site where the police held the members of the Nordic Resistance Front and scuffles ensued between police and a small number of members of the antifa movement who tried to break through the barricades.
