JUN 10 1974 Gasoline Rig Burns On Highway A trailer, which contained 4,000 gallons of premium grade gasoline, burns Monday morning on U.S. 6 three miles west of Golden. The driver of the rig, Albert Madsen, 46, of 825 S. Quivas St., told State Patrolman Arnold Kircher that he apparently dozed while making a curve on the winding road about 5:45 a.m. and the trailer struck a rock wall, setting the fuel afire. Madsen said he pulled back onto the highway from a ditch, unhooked the tractor of the truck and let the trailer burn on the highway. The Golden Fire Department responded and decided to let the fuel burn rather than spray foam, which could have flowed into Clear Creek. Fire was extinguished by 10 a.m. Traffic, except for trucks with flammables, used highway shoulder to pass. Credit: Denver Post Photo (Denver Post via Getty Images)
