Oregon recently approved Measure 109 which allows for the adult use of psilocybin, the active ingredient in psilocybe cubensis, known colloquially as "magic" mushrooms, under the supervision of a licensed psilocybin facilitator at an accredited psilocybin service center. After two harrowing tours of military service in Afghanistan, Shea suffered from depression and PTSD. But two experiences with magic mushrooms after his return to the US helped lift his depression and recover his quality of life. Since January 1 Oregon has legalized the adult use of psilocybin, the active hallucinogenic component of magic mushrooms, but only under the supervision of a licensed psilocybin facilitator and only at a state-sanctioned psilocybin service center.
