Female Double Idol

Female double idol, rock crystal, cut, lithotomy, rock crystal, Total: Height: 5.6 cm; Width: 2.8 cm; Depth: 2.2 cm, Three-dimensional sculptures, small sculptures, votive gifts, ornamental objects, deities of the earth and fertility, On both sides of the idol a naked female figure is depicted, raising her arms at an angle and grasping her breasts. The two halves of the figure are separated by a vertical longitudinal notch. The head is characterized by large eyes, a small nose and a narrow mouth. Above the forehead, small remains of parallel strands of hair are visible. The separation of arms and body as well as the internal drawings of the eyes, mouth, hands and fingers and the shame are made by simple incised lines. Thighs and the separately indicated abdominal crease particularly indicate obesity. Possibly the drillings served for the tap into a sceptre. The idol represents a female mother goddess not least because of its full forms, whose two-sided execution is unusual. A similar idol was found in Tarsus in Anatolia..
