Medical spas are the hottest segment of the 1.1–billion spa industry. Dermatologists and plastic surgeons as well as every other variety of medical professional, including dentists and gynecologists, are either opening their own spas or signing on as consultants to existing spas. These spas can be pricier than your average, old–fashioned spas, but proponents say they offer more effective treatments because physicians are involved. But the regulations vary.
