Students Protest Shah Of Iran 1968
Demonstrators supporting the Iranian People’s Movement picket between police barricades at 49th Street and Park Avenue across from the Waldorf Astoria’s main entrance in New York City, New York on June 10th, 1968. This protest was intended for Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi’s arrival at the beginning of his visit to the United States, though he was escorted by police through the hotel’s side entrance on 50th Street to avoid conflict. Organized by Iranian expatriates, students, and activist groups, protestors carry signs that read “Stop Persecution Against Iranian Patriots”, “Support Iranian Students Fighting Against The Shah’s Dictatorship”, “Shah Is Killing Iranians With Their Own Money”, “The Shah Is A Murderer!”, and “Iranians Dying While Shah Arming”.
